Outreach
NOMADS...
(pictured) arrive each January for three to six weeks of work in Starr
County, rehabbing homes of elderly and disabled. Those in need are
recommended through the Rio Grande City office of the Department of Human
Services. NOMADS live in their RV's which they park on the church's RV
pads (behind the church building), and become part of the worshipping
congregation while they work in mission throughout the county.
MUSICAL... Members of
St. John participate in musical programs regularly scheduled at the Rio
Grande City Nursing and Rehab Center, near the Starr County Hospital.
John and Pasha Buck play Mexican, Big Band, and Gospel music (tenor sax and
tuba); the children sing or play guitar.
RURAL BORDER INITIATIVES...
St. John UMC hosts weekly training sessions for families each Thursday
